This month we face the news of the Coronavirus outbreak. It is estimated that many people have been infected and the number can continue to grow. Reportedly, a team of Australian scientists succeeded in creating the coronavirus. This means we are one step closer to finding a drug or vaccine to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
Even though the media coverage is tense, this is actually not the first time there has been global anxiety about an outbreak. Mankind has repeatedly succeeded in resisting the forces of nature when a deadly disease emerges that threatens life’s survival. This also inspired filmmakers to create films with a background of deadly diseases.
– Contagion (2011)
Much praise is given to Contagion for daring to show the reality of the efforts of scientists who have failed in finding a cure for deadly diseases. Contagion also provides a real picture of how disease becomes as widespread as the incubation period, how a person can get it, and why it spreads quickly. The author of this film also shows how the process of making vaccines in an interesting way certainly makes this film one of the most favorite. Described that this virus is related to animals, just like a corona. Do you feel really curious about this movie? – Viruses (2019)
This film tells about the spread of the virus in Kerala District and Malappuram District. The symptoms displayed are fever, headache, and vomiting. This film depicts the chronology of the spread of the virus based on true stories that did occur in India. The virus itself is spread by fruit bats. Criticism arises because there are many subplots that make the film become less focused. Besides viruses have some similarities with Contagion.
– Outbreak (1995)
The story is about microscopic insects that can kill humans within 24 hours by melting their internal organs. The insect made the inhabitants of a village in Africa disappear. 30 years later, a monkey illegally smuggled into America took the insect with him. The seller was unable to sell the monkey so he released it into the wild. That was the beginning of the chaos when insects were able to infect many people. The film is certainly spiced up with drama because the two researchers who are the main roles of the film are experiencing divorce.
